West Cork Model Railway Village in Clonakilty, is a 1:24th scale recreation of the West Cork railway line as it was in the 1940’s. Featuring recreations of the villages it served such as Clonakilty, Bandon, Dunmanway and Kinsale, with all models and figures hand made on site.
The detailed villages hide lots for children of all ages to discover, whilst the indoor discovery room informs readers about the railway and the people who lived on and around it.
You can also take the thirty minute tour of modern Clonakilty on the road train “Choo Choo” which takes you around the Heritage Town, where you will pass classically Irish buildings, travel down narrow lanes and pass through the town’s old industrial heart, the brewery and mill buildings, all the while exposed to the lovely scenery of Ireland.
There is an indoor soft play area and outdoor playground to keep children entertained and Tearooms set in rescued train carriages along with a small gift shop.
Wheelchair access is available throughout and assistance dogs are welcome.
